Celebrate the Small Things

This weekly blog hop is sponsored by the amazing Lexa Cain,  and co-hosted by L.G. Keltner from Writing Off the Edge and myself.

What exactly are we celebrating?

Every week, wonderful things happen, tiny things, which make us smile. But as time grabs us up, we forget all about these moments as if they never existed at all. This is the chance for us to reflect back on those and remember that there are tons of things worth celebrating.

This week, I'm celebrating. . .

1) Getting a short story worked out! I had some plot issues that were refusing to slide into place, but it's finally fitting together. I might get this thing written after all!

2) An email, in which coming up, possible publication dates were mentioned. I know this is nothing huge, but it always makes me smile and feel a little excited to see that the date is drawing near and will really happen. It's not always a sure business—as well all know—and although I didn't doubt this one, that email still just brightened my day a little bit more.

3) Pumpkins! A farmer has a flatbed trailer full of very large, bright orange, gorgeous pumpkins set- up in town. I haven't bought any yet (I will soon), but I love driving by and gazing at them. Especially since he has big pots of colorful mums scattered in between. It's a beautiful sight. . . WHICH I should take a picture of and post for you guys to see. (Lol! and so the thoughts hit)

4) Being taken out to lunch! My son and I ventured to the big city this week to buy a few items I can't get here in town, and we used the opportunity to go out for lunch. His treat (which is SO sweet!). Anyway, it was a buffet with the most lovely, enormous dessert section I've ever seen. So after eating tons of veggies (that's me being healthy first), I plundered that section and even had several extra helpings of fudge and pecan pie. As an extra bonus, they had bags of pink cotton candy, which my son and I grabbed for his younger siblings, who were stuck in school.
Now, I know where to go for my sugar rush.

So, what about you? What put a smile on your face this last week? Take a stroll through the pumpkin patch? Drink a lovely cup of tea? Have some time to simply sit and enjoy the world?

What are you celebrating this week?

  1. Hey, if you ate your veggies first, go ahead and splurge on desert!

  2. Our roadside pumpkins don't look anything like that! That sounds awesome. Pecan pie is also awesome. I got a pecan fix in last weekend in the form of a maple pecan frappucino! :D

Publishing emails are always exciting. ^_^

  3. Buffets like that are the best, aren't they? I went to one with our extended family back in August and they also had cotton candy (on sticks). One of my nephews asked his dad if it would be alright to have a second helping of cotton candy, and my brother-in-law said, "Sure. As long as you first go ask that guy for permission." Then he pointed to a random guy across the room eating with his family. Hilarity ensued.

Congrats on the publishing news! That's great.

  4. I got notes from my editor back this week and she said she enjoyed my characters. That put a big smile on my face.

  5. Aw, memories of candy floss, which I believeis generally still only available at the seaside here is England. Which is where I will be going on Wednesday. Sadly,I've resolved to cut out sugar. Apparently it creates wrinkles. Whoops - too late!

How nice to be taken out for lunch by a son. Only happens on my birthday - or sitting in the car at MacDonald's (but surely that doesn't count?)

  6. It's great when a story falls into place! Pumpkin season already? Halloween will be here before we know it.

  7. I'm not sure how publication dates are "nothing huge". :P And I definitely hear you about plundering the dessert section when given the chance.

Unfortunately, I don't think I have anything to note this week.
